Oh my goodness, Shadows! This fifth installment in Kim Pritekel's Destiny series completely blew me away. It's like stepping back into a familiar, beloved world, but with exciting new additions that kept me on the edge of my seat. Seeing Roishin and Enori settling into their new life, solidifying their love and facing the challenges of parenthood with baby Mariota, was heartwarming. Their happiness felt earned, a well-deserved reward after everything they've been through. But the real joy came from the expansion of the story and the introduction of truly captivating new characters.
Terryn, Roishin's shadow, immediately captured my heart. Her backstory, her struggles within the oppressive Tunnels community, and her eventual connection with Ava – it's all so incredibly well-crafted. And speaking of Ava, let's just say that this book showcases her strength and resourcefulness in ways I never expected. Her mission into Bowhar, posing as Terryn's boyfriend, is nothing short of breathtaking. The tension, the danger, the sheer audacity of it all – Pritekel masterfully builds suspense, creating moments that truly made my heart pound. I found myself completely invested in Ava and Terryn's journey, holding my breath as they navigated treacherous situations.
